Primrose Bakery became a true sensation on social media thanks to their delicious cakes that are keeping it 100% real with silly lines and quotes written over them. Primrose Bakery had pretty humble beginnings before becoming an Instagram sensation with 280,000 followers. Martha Swift founded it alongside her former business partner, Lisa Thomas, and they were initially baking cakes from their home kitchens before she opened her first bakery in London’s chic neighborhood of Primrose Hill. Swift is guided by the belief that every occasion calls for a cake, and she puts a lot of effort into making her cakes truly speak to people. Many of them went viral after Swift started writing funny messages over the glazing and sharing the final results on social media. It can be repetitive and most artists run away from repetition. However, Boston-based artist Stuart Dunkel doesn’t seem to have this issue. The majority of Dunkel’s artistic output in the past decades revolved around creating adorable oil paintings featuring a small white mouse named Chuckie. The mouse usually interacts with food and toys or engages in mischievous adventures. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Stuart Dunkel (@stuartdunkel) Dunkel, who has been engaged in visual arts since the 1990s, started painting Chuckie as a joke. His wife was scolding him about leaving crumbs in the kitchen, so he decided to turn it into a joke. He painted a mouse as part of the still painting he was working on and said it was actually the mouse who is creating all that mess. After sharing laughs with his wife, Dunkel decided to submit the painting to a gallery show and immediately sold it. He began creating more mouse paintings and they became his calling card. “The mouse series was really successful and people really responded to it. I’m very mischievous so the mice paintings are a good vehicle for who I am,” Dunkel said in an interview with The Avid Pen. But they are neither. Instead, they are a result of painstaking attention to detail and a testament to a great artistic talent. Geddes creates astonishing oil paintings that deliver surreal scenes to viewers in photorealistic quality. Each brushstroke is purposeful and placed to bridge the gap between art and reality, but the things that appear on the canvas seem hardly possible: astronauts melting or disintegrating in unknown dimensions, spacecraft crashing into buildings, cars balancing on their tips, and much more. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jeremy Geddes (@jeremyispainting) The scenes featured in Geddes’ paintings are hard to explain and pose more questions than they answer. This is exactly what the artist wants. “With these paintings, I’m trying to leave the narrative ambiguous and open to interpretation, whilst juxtaposing enough disparate elements to make some sort of interpretation necessary. I’m keen to never give enough clues to block any potential explanation the viewer might bring. I want to spark questions, rather than answer them,” said Geddes ahead of the recent Thinkspace Projects exhibition. Chamiot-Poncet created 60 colorful designs for the project. They depict various quirky characters with eye-catching features like extraordinary mustaches, wacky hairstyles, and peculiar expressions, and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some of them also feature messages that let drivers know they should slow down. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ilta.studio (@ilta.studio) For the project, Chamiot-Poncet teamed up with creatives from Ilta Studio and the French city of Rennes, where the traffic signs were installed. Chamiot-Poncet made the designs, which were then printed, cut, and plastered on the old traffic signs provided by the city. The traffic signs were installed in La Courrouze district, known for being a dangerous place for pedestrian due to drivers who often disregard the speed limit. With the project, Chamiot-Poncet and rest of the participants hope to “alert passersby and motorists in an offbeat manner in an area where pedestrians feel unsafe.” It is unclear how long this installation will remain on display, but if you have a chance, make sure to check it out. He’s a fossil collector behind East Coast Fossils, who specializes in hunting for shark teeth and using his platform to advocate for shark and ocean conservation. Rash grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and his love for nature knows no bounds. He spent his childhood years fascinated by the ocean and answered the call of the sea when he was just 19 years old. This was when he started collecting prehistoric shark teeth along the East Coast, unaware that this teenage hobby would shape the rest of his life. Rash’s collection kept growing as the years went by, and he’s now sharing his findings with 80,000 followers on his Instagram page East Coast Fossils. He’s no longer based in the Outer Banks, but that’s not stopping him from collecting fossils since his home state of Virginia also offers a long Atlantic coastline. It was accompanied by a great-looking movie poster, which is nowadays highly sought-after among collectors. However, they are rarely in good condition since few predicted that the movie will be a pop culture phenomenon and start one of the most passionate fandoms out there. Restoration experts from Fourth Cone Restoration were recently tasked with restoring one of the original Star Wars movie posters to its former glory. The poster itself wasn’t in particularly rough shape, although it featured various wrinkles and crests from being stored folded. Fourth Cone Restoration decided to capture the process of restoring the poster on camera and shared it as a video on YouTube. The video showcases the techniques and artistry of the restoration process, and it is mesmerizing to watch how the imperfections are fixed. The process includes giving the poster an unexpected bath, straightening it out, adding linen backing, and retouching the artwork using colored pencils and watercolors. The results are amazing, and the poster looks like it was just printed. Check out Fourth Cone Restoration’s video of Star Wars movie poster restoration below. They’ll win you over with their retro feel and silly lines and quotes that make them memorable, ranging from “main character energy” to “not aging, just upgrading.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Primrose Bakery (@primrosebakery) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Primrose Bakery (@primrosebakery) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Primrose Bakery (@primrosebakery) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Primrose Bakery (@primrosebakery) The post Primrose Bakery’s Cakes Are Keeping it 100% Real appeared first on Magazine Blogger. ]]> Stuart Dunkel Creates Adorable Oil Paintings Featuring Chuckie the Mouse https://magazinebloger.com/stuart-dunkel-creates-adorable-oil-paintings-featuring-chuckie-the-mouse/ <![CDATA[Amanda C]]> Fri, 28 Feb 2025 08:17:00 +0000 <![CDATA[Art]]> <![CDATA[art]]> <![CDATA[Chuckie the mouse paintings]]> <![CDATA[mouse art]]> <![CDATA[mouse paintings]]> <![CDATA[Stuart Dunkel]]> <![CDATA[Stuart Dunkel art]]> <![CDATA[Stuart Dunkel mouse paintings]]> <![CDATA[Stuart Dunkel paintings]]> https://magazinebloger.com/?p=9518 <![CDATA[You’ll rarely see a painter commit themselves to painting just one subject all over again. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ECFossils – Logan (@east_coast_fossils) In addition to being a fossil collector, Rash is also an advocate for shark and ocean conservation. He co-wrote two books inspired by his years of expertise collecting shark teeth, including a beachcombing guide for fossil collectors titled My Shark Tooth Guide and a children’s book Why We Need Sharks, which explores the awe-inspiring world of sharks and sheds light on their vital role in the ecosystem. Lala the Beadmaker made quite a splash on Instagram with her show-stopping beaded bags that have to be seen to be believed. Lala the Beadmaker is the alter ego of the fashion designer Ibeh Maryjane Chiamaka, who’s using the power of social media to put her work on the map. She hails from Abuja, Nigeria, and she embarked on quite a journey before her work went viral on Instagram and TikTok, where some of her videos attracted millions of views. Lala the Beadmaker started her beading journey in her mother’s dining room, and her craft significantly evolved over the years. She spent hours sitting there with a little torch, her back bent, and her creativity in full gear, dreaming of getting where she is today. View this post on Instagram A post shared by beadedbag / beadedbra / beadedbracelet (@lalathebeadmaker) She initially made beaded jewelry but eventually shifted focus to more elaborate designs, including her signature beaded handbags. No beads are off limits for this talented designer, who enjoys using everything from crystal and acrylic beads to plastic beads and pearls to bring her bags to life. They come in all the colors of the rainbow, perfectly capturing the vibrant spirit of her homeland.
