One of them is Australian artist Elisha, aka Bauhaus Your Haus. She creates artworks in which, as she puts it, “Bauhaus design meets pop culture.” These artworks use recognizable elements of Bauhaus design, including clean lines, bold colors, and simple geometric shapes.

The list includes retired sprinter Usain Bolt, Lieutenant Commander Data from Star Trek: Next Generation, the version of superhero Wolverine from the X-Men ’97 animated series, Heath Ledgers’ version of the villain Joker, Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch aka Cap’n Crunch, and many more.

One of them is TikTok user @jeffersonjohn14, who decided to share their realization with the rest of the world in a video that has since gone viral.
“Yall please remember to clear your CALCULATOR history every once in a while..my bf just saw mine and would have rather him gone thru my internet history,” @jeffersonjohn14 wrote in the video while also disclosing that her embarrassing calculation was “3+8??????.”

]]>Clamp creates simple illustrations that are packed with humor. His works are usually black and white, with a small amount of details and a few lines of text. Despite this, the idea behind them is always so funny that you can’t help but laugh.
“I try to keep it simple. I don’t even use backgrounds or shading for the most part. The most important thing for me is to tell a short story with every drawing. I also love wordplay. You can tell a joke with a single word if you know what you’re doing – or you can do it with no words at all! It’s all about the idea!,” Clamp shared in a recent interview with Bored Panda.
Clamp’s works might seem like something created by a seasoned veteran but he is fairly new to the world of illustrations. Everything started when he acquired a whiteboard, hoping it would help him get a better organization. But it didn’t take long before he started using it for drawing instead of writing.
He liked the practice as it helped him relax following a long day or a tiring recording session. But since one drawing needed to disappear for another to come to life on the whiteboard, he eventually started making digital illustrations and sharing them on social media.

]]>It takes a lot of talent to create a great caricature, and one artist who has plenty of it is Lindsey Olivares. She creates humorous caricatures of celebrities that she regularly shares on her social media. The list of celebrities who have received a caricature treatment from Olivares includes actor Timothy Chalamet, pop star Taylor Swift, model Naomi Campbell, and book author Stephen King.
Based in Los Angeles, California, Olivares is an award-winning character designer with an impressive resume that includes working on the Academy Award-nominated animated feature The Mitchells Vs. The Machines and collaborating with big-time animated studios like Pixar and Dreamworks Animation.
However, Olivares’ true passion is caricatures. She enjoys the process of turning her initial impressions of the subject into a drawing and exploring how creative she can get with a caricature while still keeping it recognizable.
“Caricature, to me, is about capturing a person’s likeness and essence. When you observe people with genuine curiosity, everyone becomes interesting,” Olivares shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda.

]]>The post Robert Smithson’s Iconic Land Artwork “Spiral Jetty” Added to the National Register of Historic Places appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>Smithson created the “Spiral Jetty” in 1970 on shore of the Great Salt Lake in Rozel Point, Utah. Consisting of mud, precipitated salt crystals, and basalt rocks, the earthwork depicts a 1,500-foot-long coil that spirals counterclockwise.
Since its creation, the “Spiral Jetty” became one of the most important land artworks in the world. It explores the relationship of humans with nature and serves as a testament to ever-changing environment. Depending on the water levels of the lake, the piece is sometimes fully or partially visible while other times, it is completely submerged in the water.
The hope is that its entry into the National Register of Historic Places will aid efforts for its preservation while also underlying its cultural importance.
“We are delighted that Spiral Jetty has received this important recognition, which will help us spread awareness of the iconic artwork and advocate for its long-term preservation. In the 54 years that Spiral Jetty has existed, it has been both submerged by the Great Salt Lake and stood far from the lakefront, bearing witness to the changing landscape around it,” Jessica Morgan, Dia’s Nathalie de Gunzburg Director, said in a statement.

]]>Only one of a handful of surviving portraits painted by Caravaggio, the painting will be exhibited at Palazzo Barberini in Rome, Italy, through February 23.
“Portrait of Monsignor Maffeo Barberini” was first recognized as the work of Caravaggio in 1963 by Italian art expert Roberto Longhi. It is believed that it shows Florentine nobleman Maffeo Barberini as a 30-year-old, 25 years before he would become Pope Urban VIII, although art experts say that can’t be claimed with absolute certainty.
The painting has been privately owned by a family in Florence and hasn’t been part of any major Caravaggio exhibition in the past. Additionally, scholars never properly examined the piece.
However, thanks to the persistence of Thomas Clement Salomon, the director of Italy’s National Galleries of Ancient Art, the owners of the painting eventually decided to allow the painting to be displayed at Palazzo Barberini. The next step will be to try to convince the owners to sell it.
“Our first dream was to put it on show, and we were able to do that, and then it’s obvious that the idea to buy it is a dream,” Salomon told the New York Times. “It’s a challenge, but it’s something we’ll work on, if possible.”

]]>The post Luiza Niechoda Creates Landscapes with a Glitch appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>The glitches found in Niechoda’s artworks come in the form of pixelization. They looked like they were loading on a computer but never managed to finish the process. However, there is no digital touch component to their creation; they are made just like every other traditional oil painting.
Niechoda achieves this effect with her unorthodox approach to painting: she always looks to incorporate geometrical shapes into her paintings and uses only vertical and horizontal brushstrokes. This unique style was influenced by the artist’s background as an engineer in geodesy and cartography.
“I know my pieces are landscapes, but in my head, they’re feelings. The reason I translate these feelings into views is my love for the Pacific Northwest (I might have watched too much Twilight as a teenager) and the work of artists like Friedrich or Turner,” Niechoda shares on her website. “I definitely see my work becoming more and more abstract in the future.”
Niechoda’s unique art made its way to private and public collections all over the world. The artist also regularly updates her social media pages with new work. Check out more of them below.

]]>One of the reasons for The Simpsons’ success is its ability to make smart and funny references to past, current, and future events. This includes all aspects of human creativity, including art.
Throughout the years, The Simpsons made all sorts of references and takes on various classical artworks. Some of them were obvious, coming in the form of Simpsons-style paintings, while others were easy to miss unless you are an avid art enthusiast.
Luckily, there is no need to rewatch all The Simpsons episodes to catch the art references you might have missed. An Instagram account, @criminalsimpsons, recently compiled all the art references made in “The Simpsons.”
The person behind the account matched the scenes from The Simpsons with the artworks they reference. This includes the show’s take on “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch, “The Dream” by Henry Rousseau, “The Death of Marat” by Jaques Louis David, and “The Girl at the Mirror” by Norman Rockwell.

According to Okita, she was always fascinated with the complex beauty found in the natural world.
“I have always been drawn to things that seem fragile, yet hide their strength and cruelty – beautiful and yet grotesque, such as insects and plants,” Okita explains.
What makes Okita’s creations even more impressive is the fact that the artist doesn’t use sketches for her works. Instead, she decides on the form and colors and then lets her creativity do the rest.
