The post Logan Rash’s Fossil Collection Will Change the Way You Look at Sharks appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>Rash grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and his love for nature knows no bounds. He spent his childhood years fascinated by the ocean and answered the call of the sea when he was just 19 years old. This was when he started collecting prehistoric shark teeth along the East Coast, unaware that this teenage hobby would shape the rest of his life.
Rash’s collection kept growing as the years went by, and he’s now sharing his findings with 80,000 followers on his Instagram page East Coast Fossils. He’s no longer based in the Outer Banks, but that’s not stopping him from collecting fossils since his home state of Virginia also offers a long Atlantic coastline.
In addition to being a fossil collector, Rash is also an advocate for shark and ocean conservation. He co-wrote two books inspired by his years of expertise collecting shark teeth, including a beachcombing guide for fossil collectors titled My Shark Tooth Guide and a children’s book Why We Need Sharks, which explores the awe-inspiring world of sharks and sheds light on their vital role in the ecosystem.

]]>The post Robert Steven Connett’s Nature Illustrations are as Weird as They Come appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>Connett’s life story proves that it’s never too late to become an artist since he worked in many different industries before becoming a full-time artist in his 50s. After losing his home in a fire, he decided to leave his career in insurance behind and worked several failed jobs before finding his true calling as an artist.
He started drawing because he loves seeing his imagination come to life and the process of creating art brings him peace that he can’t attain any other way.
“[My art is] still how I illustrate my feelings about the world, but it’s modified by my wish to create order and beauty. I use my work as a vehicle to take me to another world, one of my own creation. I’m honored to share that world and thrilled that others can relate to it in their own way,” he explains on his official website.
Connett’s drawings will transport you to a whimsical world that takes inspiration from our own while also looking completely unique and magical. Most of them are inspired by the endless beauty of the natural world and show insects, reptiles, birds, and other animals in a way we’ve never seen them before.

]]>Drachuk has been working with glass for over 20 years, and he now specializes in “lampwork” – the practice of making glass figurines melted in the flame of a gas burner glass. Also known as flameworking or torchworking, this practice has been around since the 14th century, and it led to the creation of some of the most intricate glasswork ever made.
Drachuk is proud to continue this centuries-old tradition through his brand Glass Symphony. His glass art is mostly inspired by the endless beauty of the natural world, and we’ve seen his tiny sculptures take the shape of everything from spiders and snails to his signature octopuses.
“Here you can find representatives of flora and fauna made of glass: figurines of wild and domestic animals, birds, fish, exotic plants, and other small compositions. Despite the small size the figurines accurately reflect the physiological characteristics of the animals, their character, and even emotions,” reads Drachuk’s Etsy page.

]]>Hurst is a Canadian brand designer and graphic designer, who used her skills to transform her Instagram page @theg0thgarden into a huge sensation, with almost 300,000 followers. She enjoyed wearing dark colors from a young age, and she wanted her home garden to reflect the goth aesthetic that she loved so much.
Even though she enjoyed playing in the dirt from a young age, Hurst traces her obsession with dark plants to black petunias she noticed at her friend’s place. She was so fascinated by them that she wanted to make her entire garden black, so she started doing her research and looking for more plants with a similar aesthetic.
Hurst’s “goth garden” truly started blooming after she moved to her own house in Carleton Place, Ontario, and she now owes 50 plants in different shades of black. They add to the mystifying allure of her home, and taking care of them is the best part of her day because it’s a grounding experience that allows her to completely detach from the digital world and simply relax.

]]>Intrigued by the beauty and power of oceans, Canadian artist Katharine Burns creates captivating paintings of seascapes. With an impressive attention to detail, Burns reproduces all sorts of different scenes on canvas. This ranges from calming seas painted in bright colors by a setting sun to waves crashing on the beach.
According to Burns, the main focus of her paintings is always water, and she always aims to avoid adding other motifs that might distract the viewers.
“What I try to capture is intimacy, and the qualities of the whole ocean environment that captivate us, sometimes unconsciously; or inspire awe in ways we can barely put into words,” Burns explains on her website. “The sparkles created from sunlight on the water’s surface; the amazing force behind a wave; the little windows of translucency that flash within it for a split second just before it crashes to the shore.”
Burns’ seascape paintings are currently exhibited at the James Baird Gallery in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Abbozzo Gallery in Toronto, Ontario. You can also check them out on the artist’s social media channels or by scrolling below.
