Laurence Winram has been practicing this rare art form for a few years, and he’s using everything from leaves to seashells to create astonishing works of art that celebrate the fleeting beauty of nature. Winram’s love affair with land art started in 2018 when he attended the 2018 European Land Art Festival in Dunbar. This event inspired him to develop his unique style of land art, which involves creating intricate artworks made from natural materials found outdoors. He enjoys venturing into the woods and finding everything from leaves and flowers to sticks and stones that he can transform into mandala-like artworks. He also enjoys capturing his creative process through stop-frame animation videos that have brought millions of views to his Instagram page. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Laurence Winram (@shapednature) Winram finds his creative process meditative because it helps him reconnect with nature, while also capturing its fleeting beauty. “I love the sense of mystery about creating a piece of land art in the forest and walking away. Very often, no one else will see it as they often blow away and are gone within the hour. But just to think someone might pass one and wonder to themselves, who made that? I like that thought,” he wrote on Instagram. This effect even translates to art as illustrations made by an artist known as Jinodae show. Jinodae creates minimalistic illustrations of carefree cats living their best life. Their works feature black and white engaged in activities like snoozing, cleaning themselves, rolling on their backs, or observing the world that surrounds them. Despite the lack of detail, these illustrations are strangely satisfying and captivating, making the viewer feel like they can put together the pieces of the scene that were left out. View this post on Instagram A post shared by sjx (@jinodae) In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Jinodae explained that they didn’t always have cats as their primary inspiration. During a prolonged creative block, the artist started using cats as a subject for quick sketches and art studies. This prompted a fascination with the way the felines can “comfortably sit and sleep” and made them a prominent part of their art process. Jinodae, who uses a combination of digital tools and traditional pen and paper sketching, frequently shares their newest cat illustrations on social media. Roxy and Corinne Mankoo are baking cakes that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine, inspired by everything from Marie Antoinette to My Little Pony. April’s Baker was founded by Roxy Mankoo in 2019,  after she decided to take a leap of faith and start her own luxury bespoke cake business. Her sister Corinne Mankoo later joined her as co-director and used her background in event design and business management to help this brand thrive. Before founding her own brand, Roxy Mankoo trained at Le Cordon Bleu, and polishes her baking skills across London and New York. Food has always been one of the biggest joys in her life, and she wanted to put a creative twist on it and transform it into a true work of art. In addition to baking some of the most delicious cakes you’ll ever come across, April’s Baker also offers vintage piping courses and online classes to all the passionate bakers out there. In his works, Laramée explores the idea of “erosion of cultures” and that ultimate knowledge “could very well be an erosion instead of an accumulation.” Laramée uses various carving methods, including high-pressure water, to alter old encyclopedias and dictionaries. He then paints them to resemble rocky formations seen in nature. From afar, these pieces look like mountain landscapes, similar to ones found in Pico da Caledônia national park, which the artist sees through the windows of his studio. But when looked closer, the remains of covers, pages, bindings, and titles are still clearly visible. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Guy Laramée (@guy.laramee) “Mountains of disused knowledge return to what they really are: mountains. They erode a bit more and they become hills,“ Laramée explains in his artist statement.  “Then they flatten and become fields where apparently nothing is happening. Piles of obsolete encyclopedias return to that which does not need to say anything, that which simply IS. Fogs and clouds erase everything we know, everything we think we are.” Laramée displayed his intriguing book transformations in numerous exhibitions around the world, including his native Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He also frequently shares his newest pieces on social media. Check out more of them below. Morling is known for her one-of-a-kind sculptures of familiar objects, including cameras, bags, and typewriters, that look like drawings. With uneven shapes and wobbly black lines, it seems like they have been pulled from a piece of paper and placed in a 3D realm. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Katharine Morling (@katharine.morling) “Each piece, on the surface, an inanimate object, has been given layers of emotion and embedded with stories, which are open for interpretation,” Morling explains in her artist statement. “The works I create are pieces of narrative in my progressing story, one piece leads to the next and I work very instinctively. My work represents my inner searching, shown outwardly in domestic and uncanny scenes.” Morling’s captivating sculptures earned her international recognition. She has exhibited her works across the world while also receiving numerous awards, including the first prize at the World Crafts Council Triennial. Morling plans to share her creative process with art enthusiasts in 2026, when she’ll open the doors of her studio and allow the public to see how her pieces are created and take part in special workshops. Instead of being interdependent on each other like in the real world, they actually become one in the world created by her art. Jewett’s sculptures combine the features of animals and plants in a way that makes them look like they came straight out of a fantasy movie. There are turtles with trees growing on their back, deer with branches and twigs instead of horns, and wolves covered with flowers as part of their fur. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ellen Jewett (@ellenjewett) Jewett mostly creates smaller sculptures that fit in the palm of one’s hand. But despite this, she manages to pack each piece with an astonishing amount of details. In order to do so, she relies on her formal studies in fine art, anthropology, and zoology, as well as work experience in medical illustration and exotic animal care. “Plants and animals have always been the surface on which humans have etched the foundations of culture, sustenance, and identity. For myself, natural forms are a continual source of fascination and deep aesthetic pleasure,” Jewett explains on her website. She’s a self-taught fiber artist who made quite a splash on social media with her bold and vibrant embroidery inspired by the endless beauty of the animal world.  McGarrity is the mastermind behind the Instagram page @a_warm_garlic_yurt, and she’s using the power of social media to share her stitching talent with the world. She’s an associate teaching professor from the Pacific Northwest who dabbled with many forms of fiber art before discovering embroidery. McGarrity sees nature as her main source of inspiration, and it’s not a coincidence that her embroidery hoops represent animals in the most vibrant light. “Animals are a very traditional subject, so I like adding my own ‘flavor’ to a piece by reinterpreting them with different palettes. I still feel like I’m learning the craft, so I like creating things using a variety of stitches and techniques,” she told My Modern Met. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Laura McGarrity (@a_warm_garlic_yurt) McGarrity wants her embroidery art to resemble paintings because she believes there’s a natural connection between these two art forms.
