Toymaker LEGO is offering an opportunity for art enthusiasts to build an art masterpiece from plastic bricks with their upcoming set. The company recently teamed up with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to create a set based on Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting “Sunflowers.”
The set features 2,615 pieces and allows users to create 16 sunflowers with adjustable petals. It also comes with a removable frame, hanger for display, and attachable plate with Vincent van Gogh’s signature.
According to LEGO, the set was designed to bring Van Gogh’s vision of “Sunflowers” into the 3D realm with three radiant shades of yellow the artist’s signature “use of light and shade.”
The set will officially become available on March 1 at LEGO and Van Gogh Museum official webshops and certified LEGO stores with a price tag of $199.99.
As part of the promotional campaign, one LEGO recreation of “Sunflowers” will be displayed at the LEGO store in Amsterdam while a second one will be exhibited at the Van Gogh Museum, where the original painting is housed.
“It was wonderful to see how LEGO and the experts of our museum have collaborated with such attention to detail and appreciation for the original artwork. We hope this LEGO set will inspire and engage new audiences with the art and life story of Vincent van Gogh,” Rob Groot, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum, said in a statement.
