The post Bauhaus Design Meets Pop Culture in the Works of This Australian Artist appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>Bauhaus remains influential in modern times, with its principles still being used in architecture, product design, and art. It also serves as an inspiration for artists, who are applying Bauhaus to their works in an unexpected way.
One of them is Australian artist Elisha, aka Bauhaus Your Haus. She creates artworks in which, as she puts it, “Bauhaus design meets pop culture.” These artworks use recognizable elements of Bauhaus design, including clean lines, bold colors, and simple geometric shapes.
Elisha’s art features depictions of celebrities, superheroes, and characters from movies, TV shows, and video games. The list includes retired sprinter Usain Bolt, Lieutenant Commander Data from Star Trek: Next Generation, the version of superhero Wolverine from the X-Men ’97 animated series, Heath Ledgers’ version of the villain Joker, Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch aka Cap’n Crunch, and many more.
Elisha shares her newest creations on social media and offers them as posters on her Etsy shop. You can check them out by scrolling below.

]]>The post Myrna Quiñonez’s Landscape Paintings Look Familiar and Mysterious at the Same Time appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>In her artworks, Quiñonez captures places she has visited and seen before. However, she presents them in a fragmented way, omitting key elements and disguising familiarity with blurry and distorted elements.
The essence of Quiñonez’s approach is her goal of exploring the relationship of people with landscapes in the age of technology. Nowadays, we experience breathtaking sights mostly through screens, distorting our perception and resulting memories of them. Additionally, artists no longer need to go outdoors to create landscape paintings as they are just a few clicks away from accessing a photo of a landscape that shows it in perfect condition.
“I explore landscape, repetitive patterns in nature, traditional oil painting and the impact that new media, screens and technology have on us, changing how we perceive the world,” Quiñonez explains on her website. “As a result my paintings look like images edited on a computer. Absence, fragmentation and movement are characteristics of my work.”

]]>The post Stephan Schmitz’s Illustrations Will Make You Think Long and Hard About Modern Life appeared first on MagazineBlogger.
]]>Schmitz’s artworks show everyday situations on a seemingly exaggerated scale that looks less outrageous the more you look at it.
For example, one of his illustrations shows a family sitting at a dinner table. But while the rest of the family is eating their meal, the father is shown converting half of it into a working desk and being fully focused on his job. This perfectly captures the modern work culture that sees people taking their work home and letting it consume them.
According to Schmitz, he aims to “surprise” the viewer with his works while making them think about a certain subject and encouraging them to figure out the message behind it.
“I think it is very satisfying for the person looking at the image to decipher the image and understand what the artist meant by it. Basically like understanding a joke or seeing a magic trick,” Schmitz shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda.

]]>On their website, Loooop says they are “obsessed with the entire spectrum of line art illustrations. “It takes just one look at their artworks to see that the description is quite fitting.
It appears that there is nothing that the team of artists from Loooop can’t draw with just one line. From simple objects like heart and clouds to full on portraits of celebrities and pop culture characters, their one-line works are a true testament to talent and creativity.
“With our unique narrative approach, we turn elaborate concepts into simple and memorable stories,” Loooop shares.
Despite looking simplistic, one-line work requires a lot of patience and effort to be done right. It can take hours for Loooop’s artist to find the right stroke for even the most basic designs. However, it is well worth it because, in the end, they end up with amazing creations. Check out more of their works below.

]]>Chen’s paintings prominently feature birds as main subjects, influenced by the artist’s love for nature and fascination with birds. Additionally, the birds represent “symbols of her personal stories.”
“Nature is pure magic, and I create work channeling that wonder, notably casting birds as the main characters who tell my stories,” she explained in a recent chat with Canvas Rebel. “Birds to me are so fascinating. They are a huge species in which every type of bird looks different and each performs their own way of life.”
Chen started her artistic journey more than two decades ago, working as an assistant to fine artists after leaving college and abandoning her goal of becoming an animator. The experience helped her master the demanding Old Master techniques and get familiar with working on large-scale art projects. Soon, she started creating fine art herself and it didn’t took long for the quality and captivating elements of her paintings to capture the attention of reputable art galleries and art enthusiasts.

]]>Durix creates intriguing pieces known as “paintbrushes sculptures” in which paintings emerge from giant paintbrushes. They are made in such a way that it appears just one swoop of the paintbrush was needed for an entire image to show up.
His paintbrushes sculptures feature an array of different subjects. Sometimes, they depict detailed and captivating depictions of Geishas, while other times, they feature pop-culture characters, animals, and even street art elements.
Durix says that he was raised in “an artistic environment” since early childhood and decided to dedicate himself fully to art at the age of 21. He likes to feature protagonists from his childhood in his works while also enjoying mixing eras and characters that don’t have anything in common at first glance.
“He paints as he breathes, and he invites us to join him in this world full of colors where he gives free rein to his overflowing imagination,” it says on the artist’s website.

]]>Popova creates paintings in which she captures the coziness of home. Inspired by post-impressionism, fauvism, and magical realism, and using a rich color palette, Popova paints bedrooms, living rooms, and other interior scenes that depict the personal spaces of people.
Her works are full of intricate details, inviting the viewer to unpack them while making up their own story about those who inhabit these spaces.
“I am drawn in by light, color, texture, and also the untold stories a lot of spaces tell. Who lives here? What were they doing? What happened here? What feelings are present in the space? Can you smell the fresh-cut flowers or spring breeze? These are all the things I think about combined with my love of paint,” Popova shared in a recent interview with Beautiful Bizzare.
Popova’s works have been exhibited across the United States and Europe, and are currently on view at Chicago’s Very Serious Gallery. If you can’t make it to check them out in person, scroll down to see more of her paintings.

]]>Influenced by French Masters like Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, and Henri Matisse, McAllister creates captivating landscape and still life paintings that are full of vibrant colors.
For most of his works, the Slidell, Louisiana-born artist relies on a palette that features warm hues of red, orange, purple, and pink. This makes his works burst from the canvas, drawing in the viewers and offering them an opportunity to get lost in natural scenes across various seasons and unpack them at their own pace.
“Most of the time, nature exists in a palette of greens, browns, and whites. However, when bursts of exaggerated color erupt, the experience becomes especially pronounced. It fills me with a sense of exuberance, excitement, and anticipation. I want to capture these same qualities in my paintings,” McAllister explained in a recent interview with designboom.
McAllister exhibited his works across the United States as well as in the UK, Germany, and Japan among other countries. His works are part of the collection of Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida, and Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California. ]]>Bernardelli treats coffee as paint. Using a brush, she transforms coffee into scenes from everyday life, animals, landscapes, or recreations of famous paintings.
According to Bernardelli, her venture into coffee art started by accident. One day, she was drinking coffee and accidentally spilled it on a white table. Watching the brown liquid disperse on the table prompted Bernardelli to start drawing with it.
Nowadays, Bernardelli “plans” when the coffee spills will take place but she stills retains a spontaneous approach to her art. She never plans the type of artwork she will create and lets the shape of the spill inspire her.
“My future starts when I wake up every morning. Every day I find something creative to do with my life,” Bernardelli shares in her Instagram bio.
