She creates wooden miniatures of beach houses as well as her versions of sea animals that always end up looking like they came out of a whimsical cartoon. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kirsty Elson (@kirstyelson) on Jul 17, 2019 at 8:35am PDT Elson’s minimally painted cottages and abstract sea animals are made of materials like bottle caps, rusted nails, metal washers, and old brushes. “The great thing about driftwood is that each piece is very different,” she told Studio Wallop in an interview. “I tend to let the materials lead me, rather than having an idea in my head and trying to find a piece to fit my idea… I let the materials do the work really.”  She lives and works in Cornwall, England.
